Self-Care Roundtables

Join your colleagues in a safe environment to discuss pertinent issues that impact self-care, and share best and promising approaches to holistic wellness. Self-Care is a topic of vital importance for all of us.  It is essential for all professionals to be aware of the various types of clinical impairment, warning signs, risk factors, and ways to seek appropriate support.

The Indian Health Service, Division of Behavioral Health is committed to providing a forum to highlight this very important topic. Therefore, the 2010 IHS National Behavioral Health Conference will feature new, interactive “Self-Care” roundtable discussions.

Objectives of the roundtable discussions:

  • Provide conference attendees a forum to confidentially discuss the topics of self-care that are of importance to them
  • Identify ways to incorporate self-care strategies within the home and work setting
  • Establish professional supports within the behavioral healthcare system

The roundtable format will consist of 30-minute presentations on self-care topics, followed by a 1 hour and 15 minute facilitated group discussion. Join your colleagues in a safe environment to share best and promising approaches to dealing with provider burnout, compassion fatigue, and stress.

Presenters for Self-Care roundtable discussions should have the following expertise:

  • Direct experience and be comfortable with group facilitation; and
  • Be able to assist group members with identifying and incorporating appropriate activities for holistic wellness.
